POLICE CHASE ENDS IN "CHAIN" WRECK
The Birmingham Police Department reports that officers from the North Precinct were involved in a vehicle pursuit that resulted in the arrest of one person.
The suspect has been identified as:
Darrell Callhoun, B/M, 25, Birmingham, Alabama.
The suspect refused to stop at a police checkpoint and proceeded at a high rate of speed into the downtown area. The suspect ran a red light at 19th Street and 11th Avenue North, where his vehicle collided with another vehicle that had the right-of-way.
This caused a second collision with another vehicle waiting on the traffic signal to change.
The suspect was taken into custody and later found to have multiple outstanding misdemeanor warrants with the cities of Birmingham, Tarrant, and Irondale. The suspect was taken to Cooper Green Hospital for evaluation before he was taken to the Birmingham City Jail.
Both drivers and one passenger from the other vehicles involved were transported by Birmingham Fire and Rescue to U.A.B. Hospital for treatment of their injuries. No officers were injured during this incident.
Birmingham Police Accident Investigators are still investigating the accident.
