SHOOTING IN WEST BIRMINGHAM
Birmingham police are investigating shootings that injured two men yesterday on the city's west side.
According to authorities the shootings happened around 9:30 p.m. in the Bessemer area. A man was shot in the lower left abdomen and was later taken to UAB Hospital. At the same time, a man showed up at Princeton Baptist Medical Center with a gunshot wound to the left wrist.
Sgt. Scott Rich from the West Precinct said he did not know if the two incidents were possibly related and they have little information on the shootings.
JEFFCO EXPECTS BAD FINANCE REPORT
The fate of Jefferson County finances are expected to come during a Wednesday meeting. Acting Finance Director Travis Hulsey will give the Jefferson County Commission finance committee a financial update. Elected county officials are expected to present their budget needs and problems.
BIRMINGHAM SCHOOL BOARD ELECTS OFFICERS TODAY
The Birmingham Board of Education will meet today at 3:30 p.m. to attempt to elect a board president and vice president for the second time in a week.
Minutes after being sworn in last Tuesday, the new board had to adjourn its first meeting without conducting any business because it couldn't come to a decision on its first official vote elect officers.
