SHOOTING AT ALABAMA A&M
Alabama A&M campus police and local law enforcement are investigating a shooting that left three students injured.
According to authorities the shooting happened between male students around 3:24 a.m. over an off-campus altercation.
The students suffer non-life threatening injuries.
TEEN INJURED IN APPARENT ACCIDENTAL SHOOTING
Jefferson County sheriff's deputies are investigating a shooting of a 15-year-old girl in the Center Point area.
According to Chief Deputy Randy Christian the girl was shot around 5 p.m. Sunday by a 17-year-old boy with 9mm gun in the midsection.
Deputies found the gun on the scene. The girl has non-life threatening injuries and is being treated at Children's Hospital.
UNOPENED CHECKS CLOG COUNTY'S FINANCES
Budget cuts have left thousands of unopened personal checks to pay property taxes sitting in boxes.
Jefferson County Tax Collector J.T. Smallwood says his staff has not been able to keep up with the crush of tax payments because his staff has been cut by 30 percent from county hiring freeze.
Taxpayers have jammed the phone lines wondering why those checks haven't cleared.
CENTER POINT CHURCH EVICTED
The Walking on Water Christian Church held its last Sunday service. The church is being evicted today due to failed mortgage payments.
The church has been operating out of the former Cinema Six movie theater.
