The Heersink School of Medicine Office of Access & Engagement invites you to a poignant and inspiring 2025 commemoration event on Friday, January 17th, from 11:30 AM to 1:00 PM at the Margaret Cameron Spain Auditorium in Birmingham, AL. This year’s keynote speaker is Lisa McNair, author of Dear Denise: Letters to a Sister I Never Knew, and sister to Denise McNair, one of the four girls who tragically lost their lives in the 1963 16th Street Baptist Church bombing. The event will feature powerful performances by the Miles College Golden Voices Choir and a moving poetry reading by Ashley Jones. Complimentary lunch will be available on a first-come, first-served basis. Join us in honoring history and fostering reflection on this important day.
